About Me:
I grew up playing every sport I could. When the
sports began to demand more of a time commitment, I chose to pursue soccer. I
played for some of the best club soccer teams in the nation, including the
Pateadores and Slammers FC. In my senior year of high school I led my team to a
CIF championship and was voted the teams co-MVP. I was also awarded First Team
All CIF and First Team All League Honors. After high school I received an
athletic scholarship at Notre Dame de Namur University. It was at NDNU that I
began to understand the advantages of weight training and I realized that the
major difference between collegiate soccer and club soccer was the speed and
strength of the competition. In the off-season I trained with John Thomas and
immediately noticed huge improvements in my athletic performance. Weight
training enhanced my strength on and off the ball and also helped increase my
coordination, speed, and endurance.
After my first year of
college soccer, I began to regularly attend ‘Power Yoga’ with Geo Moskios. Yoga improved my athletic performance
far greater than anything else. The most important difference was that I could
train hard, take a yoga class, and wake up the next morning feeling great. In
addition to improved recovery time, I also suffered fewer and fewer injuries,
something that had plagued me for my entire career. I felt it made me more flexible, balanced and focused. It
didn’t take long for me to get totally hooked on yoga. I still regularly attend
Geo’s classes.
Now that I have graduated
from college, I am playing soccer for Corona United, a semi-professional team.
More recently, I have obtained an ACE Personal Trainer Certificate and I plan
to pass on the knowledge that I have acquired to younger generations.
Private sessions are catered to the needs of the individual athlete.
Special attention is paid to teaching technique and proper mechanics for
necessary skills. All sessions incorporate a variety of training methods. Integration
of plyometrics and “Power Yoga” (strength flexibility
and balance, all essential in soccer) are essential aspects of my training. Mental aspects of the game are also
preached. The athlete is taught the importance of visualization and how he can
apply it to the game of soccer.
In 2007 I coached the Junior
Varsity Men’s Soccer Team at Laguna Beach High School. I am currently coaching girls under 12 for Laguna Niguel FC. Also, I coach private
lessons for athletes of all ages.
